Tragic Flash Floods at Texas Camp Mystic Claim at Least 27 Lives

At least 27 campers and counselors tragically lost their lives in flash flooding at Camp Mystic, located in Texas Hill Country, officials confirmed Monday. The sudden floods, which struck the area on July 4th, have resulted in over 80 fatalities across the region.

In a heartfelt statement, Camp Mystic expressed deep sorrow for the families affected by the disaster. “Our hearts are broken alongside the families enduring this unimaginable tragedy,” the camp shared on its website.

The camp also thanked the community for the outpouring of support and asked for continued prayers and privacy during this difficult time.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott visited the flood site over the weekend and described the scene as “nothing short of horrific.” The rapid rise of the Guadalupe River caused widespread devastation, catching many campers and locals off guard.

In response to the emergency, more than 1,500 state personnel have been deployed to assist with rescue and recovery efforts. Authorities are working tirelessly to support survivors and recover those lost in the flooding.
