Vic Sotto reacts to “not guilty” plea of Darryl Yap

Vic Sotto remains confident that justice will continue to move forward in the Philippines despite the ongoing cyber libel case involving director Darryl Yap.

This reaction follows Darryl Yap's recent arraignment at the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court on June 3, 2025, where the director pleaded "not guilty" to charges filed against him by the Eat Bulaga! host, Vic Sotto.

During a contract signing event for his new endorsement, Vic Sotto was asked by PEP.ph and other media outlets about Darryl Yap’s plea.

Vic responded with a lighthearted remark, “O, di, good,” followed by a serious note:

“Hindi, I cannot talk about it kasi it's ongoing.

“Saka ako, naniniwala ako na gumugulong ang justice system natin. Nakikita naman natin.
So whatever decision of the court will be, e, abangan na lang natin sa susunod na kabanata.”

Due to a gag order still in place for the case, Vic Sotto did not provide further comments.

In a separate interview, Darryl Yap’s legal counsel, Atty. Raymund Fortun confirmed that mediation will take place before the first court hearing scheduled in August. He explained:

“Sa batas natin — at ito ang hindi alam ng karamihan — ninanais pa natin ang husgado na magkaroon ng maayos na kaayusan ng mga partido.

“Merong tinatawag na mediation proceedings. Mandatory po ito.

“At during the mediation ay sisikapin nung isang duly authorized and experienced na mediator na magkasundo yung mga parties.”
