  • Assassin's Creed Destiny was a cancelled Ubisoft and Tencent project, so it has no platforms, price or release date.
  • The game was set in 206 BCE China and only became public through leaked prototype footage in October 2026.
  • Any download, beta key or preorder using the Destiny name is fake, so buy games only from official stores.
  • Assassin's Creed Jade, a separate mobile game set in ancient China, is still in development with no release date.
  • Black Flag Resynced and Shadows are the newest Assassin's Creed games you can play today.

Assassin's Creed Destiny is not a game you can download, buy or preorder. It was an unannounced Assassin's Creed project set in ancient China, built by Tencent's TiMi Studio Group with Ubisoft, and it was reportedly cancelled in early 2025. That means no platforms, no price and no release date.

The name started spreading in mid-October 2026 after leaked prototype footage surfaced. Here is what the game was, why there is nothing to install, how to avoid fake downloads that use its name, and which Assassin's Creed games you can actually play today.

What was Assassin's Creed Destiny?

Assassin's Creed Destiny was the working title of a full-size Assassin's Creed game set in 206 BCE, during the fall of China's Qin dynasty. Gaming site MP1st revealed it on October 15, 2026, in a report with prototype footage taken from the portfolios of developers who worked on it.

The footage shows a mission where a female assassin slips into a palace under siege by the warlord Xiang Yu to reach a mysterious artifact. It also shows series staples like stealth kills, parkour and the leap of faith, plus a few new ideas:

  • A spinning, umbrella-like weapon for the main character.
  • Early work on a boss fight against Xiang Yu himself.
  • Animations of a male character, which may mean you could choose your assassin's gender, or may just be placeholder work.

Ubisoft never announced the game, and neither Ubisoft nor Tencent has commented on the report. Everything known about it comes from that leaked material.

Why was it cancelled?

According to MP1st, most of the footage comes from a February 2025 prototype. TiMi had announced a restructuring a month earlier, splitting the studio into four teams, and Destiny was dropped not long after. No official reason has been given.

The wider context helps. In 2024, Reuters reported that Tencent was moving away from big licensed Western franchises, which earn lower margins than its homegrown games. In its March 2026 franchise update, Ubisoft also said it had chosen to "pivot away from an early project," but it did not name that project, so there is no confirmation it was Destiny.

What are the Assassin's Creed Destiny platforms, price and release date?

If you came here to check whether your console, PC or phone can run it, here is the short version. MP1st says the game was planned for current consoles and PC rather than phones, but that plan ended with the cancellation.

What you would normally check Assassin's Creed Destiny
Platforms None. It was reportedly aimed at current consoles and PC before it was cancelled.
Release date None. The game is not coming out.
Price None. It was never priced or put on sale.
Subscription or in-app purchases None. No business model was ever announced.
Storage and device requirements None published.
Account sign-in Not needed. There is nothing to sign in to.
Preorders Not possible. Any preorder listing is fake.

Common misconceptions about the name

It is not Assassin's Creed Jade

Jade is a separate, mobile-only Assassin's Creed game for iPhone and Android. It was also made with TiMi and is also set in ancient China, but in 215 BCE. Unlike Destiny, Jade was delayed rather than cancelled: Ubisoft confirmed in March 2026 that it is still in development, and it still has no release date.

It is not a Destiny 2 crossover

If the name made you think of Bungie's sci-fi shooter, you may be remembering the December 2022 crossover between Destiny 2 and Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Destiny 2 sold Assassin's Creed-themed armor and cosmetics in its Eververse store, and Valhalla sold Destiny-themed gear packs. It was paid cosmetic content, not a new game.

The leak is not a teaser

Leaked prototype footage is not a marketing trailer. It does not hint at a surprise launch, and there is no guarantee its ideas, like the umbrella weapon, will show up in another game.

How do you avoid fake downloads and preorders?

Whenever an unreleased game trends, fake listings follow. Before you download or pay for anything with this name, run through this checklist:

  1. Check Ubisoft's official list of Assassin's Creed games. If a game is not there or on Ubisoft's news pages, it is not for sale.
  2. Treat any assassins creed destiny APK, beta key or early access download as fake. Sideloaded apps (apps installed from outside the official app stores) are a common way to spread malware.
  3. Buy only from official stores: PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Nintendo eShop, Steam, Epic Games Store, the Ubisoft Store, Apple's App Store and Google Play.
  4. Never type your Ubisoft account password into a site you reached from a video description, comment or ad.

Which Assassin's Creed games can you play right now?

If you want an Assassin's Creed game you can install this week, these are the newest options. Prices change often and differ between stores: US prices are listed before sales tax, while UK prices include VAT (value-added tax). Check the official store page before you buy.

Game Where you can play it How you pay
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced (July 2026) PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam, Epic, Ubisoft Store), Steam Deck, plus cloud streaming on GeForce Now and Blacknut One-time purchase in Standard, Deluxe or Collector's Edition, or a Ubisoft+ subscription
Assassin's Creed Shadows (2025) PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Apple silicon Macs, Nintendo Switch 2 One-time purchase, or a Ubisoft+ subscription
Assassin's Creed Mirage (2023) PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and recent iPhone and iPad models One-time purchase

Expect to be asked for a free Ubisoft account (Ubisoft Connect). Ubisoft uses it for features like cross-progression, which lets you carry a Shadows save between Switch 2 and other platforms. File sizes for the console and PC versions are large, so check the exact figure on your platform's store page before you hit download.

Will Assassin's Creed return to ancient China?

Most likely, through Jade. It is the one announced Assassin's Creed game set in ancient China that is still in development. Ubisoft has described it as an open-world game built for touch controls, but it has not shared a release window. So far, the only released Assassin's Creed game set in China is Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China, a smaller 2.5D side-scroller from 2015.

The next big console and PC entry is Codename Hexe, a darker, story-driven game in development at Ubisoft Montreal. Ubisoft has not announced a release date. Insider reports point to 2027 at the earliest, so treat any specific date you see as a rumor until Ubisoft confirms it.

Frequently asked questions

Is Assassin's Creed Destiny coming to PS5, Xbox or PC?
No. Assassin's Creed Destiny was reportedly being built for current consoles and PC, but it was cancelled in 2025 after an early prototype. Ubisoft never announced it, so there is no PS5, Xbox or PC version on the way. If a store or website lists it for any of these platforms, treat the listing as fake and avoid paying or downloading.
Can I play Assassin's Creed Destiny on my phone?
No. Destiny was never planned as a mobile game, and it was cancelled anyway. The Assassin's Creed game set in ancient China for phones is Assassin's Creed Jade, which is coming to iPhone and Android but has no release date yet. If you want Assassin's Creed on a phone today, Assassin's Creed Mirage runs on recent iPhone and iPad models.
Who was making Assassin's Creed Destiny?
TiMi Studio Group, the Tencent-owned studio best known for Honor of Kings and Call of Duty: Mobile, was leading development in collaboration with Ubisoft. Tencent is also a major investor in Ubisoft. TiMi announced a studio restructuring in early 2025, and Destiny was reportedly cancelled shortly after its February 2025 prototype.
Could Ubisoft bring Assassin's Creed Destiny back?
It is possible but there is no sign of it. Neither Ubisoft nor Tencent has commented on the leaked footage, and cancelled games rarely return under the same name. Some of its ideas, such as its setting or the spinning umbrella weapon, could resurface in a future game, but nothing has been announced. For now, treat Destiny as a closed chapter.
What is the newest Assassin's Creed game?
The newest release is Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, a remake of the 2013 pirate adventure Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. It launched on July 9, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The most recent all-new story in the main series is Assassin's Creed Shadows, set in feudal Japan, which launched in 2025.

The bottom line

Assassin's Creed Destiny was a real project, but it was cancelled at the prototype stage, so there is nothing to download, buy or preorder on any platform. Anything claiming otherwise is fake. If you want ancient China, keep an eye on Jade for mobile. If you want to play now, Black Flag Resynced and Shadows are the newest choices.

Your next step: before you spend money, confirm the game is on Ubisoft's official list and buy it only through your platform's own store. For more launch explainers like this one, browse our Tech and Tools guides.
